SOS: Thissen Tries to Bail Out Embattled Sawatzky
Democrat Mary Sawatzky campaigned in New London today with Minneapolis Speaker of the House, Paul Thissen. Despite claims that she is “an independent person in the Legislature,” (Carolyn Lange, “Willmar businessman Baker announces House bid,” West Central Tribune, January 25, 2014) Mary Sawatzky has been a reliable Democrat vote for the Minneapolis-Saint Paul DFL leadership for over $2 billion in higher taxes, bringing Obamacare to Minnesota, millions of dollars of wasteful spending including $90 million for a luxury office building for part-time politicians and over $20 million for a pedestrian mall in Minneapolis.
“Mary Sawatzky claims to be independent but when it comes time to vote on important fiscal issues, Minneapolis Democrats know they can count on Mary Sawatzky to support their plans for higher taxes and wasteful spending while neglecting her districts needs,” said Minnesota Jobs Coalition Chairman Ben Golnik. “It is past time for Mary Sawatzky to come clean with her constituents that she voted to raise their tax dollars to pay for millions in pet projects in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, brought Obamacare to Minnesota and authorized thousands in bonuses for MNsure bureaucrats.”
