Gov. Dayton Should Own Up To Harm Caused In Greater Minnesota By His Vetoes
St. Paul, Minn. – In advance of Governor Dayton’s regional press call with Greater Minnesota news outlets, Minnesota Jobs Coalition executive director John Rouleau issued the following statement.
“After vetoing tax cuts for middle class families, new money for school safety, and relief for those struggling with opioid addiction, Governor Mark Dayton has a lot to answer for. Instead of investing in our schools and lowering taxes for 99% of Minnesotans, Dayton put the demands of liberal activists ahead of what’s best for Greater Minnesota.”
Among those impacted, particularly in Greater Minnesota, by Governor Dayton’s vetoes are:
- Victims of elder abuse
- Minnesotans struggling with the opioid crisis
- Deputy Registrars and Minnesotans impacted by the MNLARS failure
- Minnesotans who need mental health support, particularly farmers and Minnesotans living in Greater Minnesota
- 99% of Minnesotans who would have seen tax relief or been held harmless by the legislatures tax proposal
- K-12 students who won’t benefit from an infusion of new funds for school safety and their districts receiving more flexibility to fill budget gaps
- Minnesotans with disabilities who will see a 7% cut to funding for the Disability Waiver Rate System
